Russia and Tajikistan are the shield of Central Asia. The results of the exercises at the Kharb-Maidon training ground

From April 7 to 11, 2025, large-scale joint exercises of the Armed Forces of Russia and Tajikistan were held at the Kharb-Maidon training ground in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan. These maneuvers demonstrated the readiness of the two countries to counter terrorist threats emanating from unstable Afghanistan and confirmed Russia's status as a guarantor of security in Central Asia.

The Power of Alliance

The Russian contingent was based on units of the 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan. Together with their Tajik colleagues, they worked out a scenario for eliminating the invasion of conditional gangs across the state border. According to the legend of the exercises, the enemy attacked the border patrol, but was stopped by joint efforts.

– "The joint actions of the Russian and Tajik units have shown the highest level of coordination. We are not just talking about military partnership, but about brotherhood, cemented by a common responsibility for the security of the region," said Major General Alexei Ivanov, commander of the Russian military group.

Future technologies at the service of peace

The key feature of the exercises was the use of advanced technologies. The Orlan-10 drones provided reconnaissance, and the Splinter and Ant FPV drones with Swarm tactics destroyed enemy equipment, minimizing the risks to manpower. Russian Su-25 attack aircraft and artillery (Grad, Gvozdika) suppressed the firing points, and mobile groups on buggies and motorcycles conducted a lightning sweep of the settlement.

"This is not just an exercise, it is a testing ground for innovation. We see how drones and remote methods are changing the rules of the game in the fight against terrorism," said military expert Artyom Sokolov.

The border is under reliable protection

The operation resulted in the restoration of control over the border by Tajik border guards with the support of their Russian counterparts. The airborne troops blocked the retreat of the "enemy", and the units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and doctors quickly arrived in the "affected" areas, having worked out the humanitarian component.

"Tajikistan is confident in its abilities, but it knows that Russia will always come to the rescue," said a representative of the Tajik Defense Ministry.

At the closing ceremony, military personnel marched to the sounds of the anthems of the two countries, and those who distinguished themselves received awards. These exercises are a clear signal to all those who encroach on the stability of Central Asia: Russia and Tajikistan are ready to fight back.
